What does spending $20bn on the world's longest bridge say about the strength of China's economy

Some people ask questions about China and the Chinese, which shows a complete ignorance of the Questioner.
  • The best question/s come from people who understand China/the Chinese length and breadth of the culture.
  • For example, this man at the best could be 140 lbs and carrying this load to deliver to a restaurant in the Yellow Mountains.
  • The Chinese Government easily could deliver it through Helicopters, but they do not want to kill the livelihood of hundreds of such porter.
  • To the Western World, it may not make sense, but the Eastern Culture makes sense.
  • On the other hand, this mountain man who is fit as the fiddle, loves his livelihood, his mountainous surrounding. He does not give two hoots to bright lights of Shanghai, he does not want to move(I am guessing), and the Government of China recognizes it, and that is why most to the Chinese do not give two hoots for useless democracy and fake freedom. And President Xi and his wife the first lady are the darlings of the masses.
  • These are people who are the lifeblood of China, not fat obese munching Dim Sums, and rubbing Lord Buddha’s belly.
  • Let me give you the secret of China’s success story, the country is run by these Karm Yogi/Yoginis. Not by three pcs toting guys with suspenders.
Try to climb these mountains even with fancy comforts never mind the tremendous amount of load on your shoulders.
Now the Answer:
You have life, see and understand China/The Chinese/their way of thinking/and their love, affections, missions not for immediate gratification but maybe to reap benefits after several generations.
In case you want to see bigger than life ambitions, please go to the Great Wall of China at least once in your life. I have been three times and want to go again and again.
Try climb this monster even with fancy equipment, never mind building a foot of the mammoth monster, which the Chinese built about 10000 miles.
  • Chinese thinking is way different than most of the Western World, Chinese mind always thinks of future.
  • They, well, most of them whether they admit or not, this belief comes from thousands of years of influence from Buddhism, now they may say Confucius said this and Confucius said that.
  • You visit China and see them working diligently, even in tough jobs, you see one thing devotion to the Karma.
  • As they think of future generations and believe life is a continuous journey. They love and adore their kids, parents, teachers, and elders. Once again this is a significant strength of the eastern thinking. Sacrifice present, for future and learn from the past.
  • In case the world has not seen their economic might with a dream of one trillion dollars price tag one road one belt. You have not visited Three Gorges, in case you have not visited the Olympic Stadium you have not visited The Great Wall of China. Let me recite the list you have not visited Temple of Heaven, in case you have not visited The Forbidden City you have not visited Terracotta Soldiers, Xian; you may question the question the prowess of the Chinese dreams.
  • In case you have not seen the ghost cities in China, which may open your eyes, new brand towns sitting empty.
  • In case you have not seen millions of apartments sitting empty, that one their kids will come home and live in these apartments, parents/grandparents empty eyes wait for kids/grandkids to go to their roots, one day.
  • In China it is all about the future and not that much about the present and instant gratification, it is all about next generations.
  • This eastern mindset is almost impossible for the westerns to understand.
  • These are two different way of thinking, and both have their right and not so good points.
Once you visit Shanghai Down Town, and Bund in the evening, and see yourself which world rest of mortals are roaming and pumping their egos, 20 billion dollar bridge is a pocket change for China.
  • One look at the Pearl Tower, put your head to spin, with the beauty of the festival of lights on the skyline. Unbelievable human resilience, aspiration, vision, and determination.
  • Millions of dollars exchange hands on Nanjing Road Shanghai, within the twinkling of an eye.
  • Try to climb The Great Wall of China, even with modern stairs and handrails, at one point near Beijing; it will give you length/breadth/height of human resistance, inspiration, and shaking of your head.
  • BTW, in my view, TGW did not achieve that much what it was initially intended. TGW: The Great Wall of China.
  • The Mongols went around it. However, it is a great achievement to the humankind for thousands of years to come.
  • But when it was conceived and executed, it was a great idea by the first emperor of China, who united China somewhat through this wall.
They say: Most of them are atheists visit one Pagoda and Grand Buddha of Lingshan in Wuxi, and watch bathing of Baby Buddha, will put you to amazement, and you say: Thank God they are atheist if they were fanatic what would have happened. It was an extreme devotion to Lord Buddha.
I never felt so much proud of in my life until I visited this Monastery and watched one of the most tranquil places on the earth( for me),
I do not want to even blind guess, how many billions of dollars it takes to maintain one of the most prime land and buildings on Forbidden City. The Chinese minds think different, for the coming generation preservation of history/monuments/archives/and super long-range projects are thousands of years of tradition,
These landscapes were created a long time back in time my previous generation for the present generation to enjoy it.
These mega civil engineering projects are not for weak hearts.

Would it be possible to reintroduce grizzly bears to Mexico and California, and would it be a good idea

This memo, that has been going around, pretty well sums up the subject of bringing grizzlies back to California. The National Park Rangers are advising hikers in Glacier National Park and other Rocky Mountain parks to be alert for bears, and to take extra precautions. They advise park visitors to wear little bells on their clothes so they make noise when hiking. The bell noise allows bears to hear them coming from a distance and not be accidentally startled by a hiker. Visitors should also carry pepper spray, just in case a bear is encountered. It is also a good idea to keep an eye out for fresh bear scat so you have an idea if bears are in the area. People should be able to recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear scat. Black bear droppings are smaller and often contain berries, leaves, and possibly bits of fur. Grizzly bear droppings tend to contain little bells, and smell of pepper. Economic Growth

The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of an economy is a measure of total production. More precisely, it is the monetary value of all goods and services produced within a country or region in a specific time period. While the definition of GDP is straightforward, accurately measuring it is a surprisingly difficult undertaking. Moreover, any attempts to make comparisons over time and across borders are complicated by price, quality and currency differences. This article covers the basics of GDP data and highlights many of the pitfalls associated with intertemporal and spatial comparisons. From the long-term perspective of social history, we know that economic prosperity and lasting economic growth is a very recent achievement for humanity. In this section we will look at this more recent time and will also study the inequality between different regions - both in respect to the unequal levels of prosperity today and the unequal economic starting points for leaving the poverty of the pre-gr
