I'd like to make an analogy of my view of America, I'd liken America to Danaerys Targaeryan in Game of Thrones.

You look at her and you immediately want to get down with her, lie down and let her ride you to prosperity.
She is beautiful, she is rich, she is powerful, the richest and most powerful person in the world in fact, she has a HUGE navy and a super powerful army, she has unconventional weapons that can be used to melt your cities and burn your armies, she has a great network of allies.
If she likes you she could change your status from a common sellsword to the ruler of Mereen

But the moment you get on her bad side, she is ever ready to bring down hell upon you, FIRE AND BLOOD she calls it.

She loves freedom and wishes to be seen as a liberator, but her intervention in Astapor to liberate the slaves left the city in riotous ruin after she withdrew her forces (which made it seem like the cure was worse than the disease).
That's the way I see America in the world (with a bigger dose of self interest though).
If you're an ally welcome to the hegemony and expect a spike in your standard of living, if you happen to fall on the wrong side though…

Sanctions! Regime change! And oh Lord No, INVASION!!
